About
I am Professor of Construction Management and Economics at the School of Construction Management and Engineering, University of Reading, having started my career as a joiner in the West Midlands.
I am Editor-in-Chief of the international journal, Construction Management and Economics.
My current research interests are in the business economics of the construction sector, particularly in relation to how performance can be incentivized through contracts. I recently completed a project looking at the costs of the commercial processes in construction and another looking at contracting based upon paying for the performance of a building, rather than for what it is made of. The focus of my work is the commercial processes of structuring, negotiating, recording and enforcing business deals in construction.
