Faculty Member, Philosophy Department
About
I am professor of philosophy at the University of Reading. At present, my work has two points of focus: (a) Speech Act theory and its application to Poetry; (b) Heidegger on the First Person. But I also write on integrity, the self as it figures in the philosophy of mind and language, perceptual demonstrative thinking, Wittgenstein on the end of philosophy, and the relation between philosophy and film (focusing on Bresson, Godard, Tarkovsky, Fassbinder and Malick).
