Project website: www.ecologyofcrusading.com
I specialise in Environmental Archaeology and Geoarchaeology, in particular, the analysis of plant remains (pollen, plant macrofossils), and have worked extensively on sites across northwest Europe.
My research interests include:
1) Holocene vegetation history and the role of human agency in landscape change - with a particular research interest in the ecological impacts of cultural change along the frontiers of medieval Europe.
2) Environmental archaeology and geoarchaeology of coasts and wetlands.
3) Ancient woodland history/conservation
